I stayed in and dished out the rocks, but to feel ye olde rustic, I hit the scrumpy. (actually it was far worse, I mixed it with white cider.......).
Still, for one brief moment the brats were tolerable.

Halloween Tricks
I always loved Halloween as a child. We dressed up (in whatever we could make scary) and bobbed for apples.
We ran around pretending to scare each other and then listened to ghost stories.....
Now these ghost stories were really scary, by the time we went to bed we were nervous wrecks and promptly had nightmares....It was great.
So kids, remember this you Disneyfied woosies. At dusk tonight the Day of the Dead begins (spooks and spirits have no idea the day now begins at midnight), it is very serious to your ancestors, especially the more evil ones.
Oh, and when you knock at my door I am well prepared. I have over-cooked brussel sprouts and dipped them in chocolate....mmmm yummy.
Have fun, have a good Scare!

Dollar swansong?
(pic sharon hodgson)
BEIJING (Reuters) - The United States has plundered global wealth by exploiting the dollar's dominance, and the world urgently needs other currencies to take its place, a leading Chinese state newspaper said on Friday.
The front-page commentary in the overseas edition of the People's Daily said that Asian and European countries should banish the U.S. dollar from their direct trade relations for a start, relying only on their own currencies.
A meeting between Asian and European leaders, starting on Friday in Beijing, presented the perfect opportunity to begin building a new international financial order, the newspaper said.
The People's Daily is the official newspaper of China's ruling Communist Party. The Chinese-language overseas edition is a small circulation offshoot of the main paper.
Its pronouncements do not necessarily directly voice leadership views. But the commentary, as well as recent comments, amount to a growing chorus of Chinese disdain for Washington's economic policies and global financial dominance in the wake of the credit crisis.
"The grim reality has led people, amidst the panic, to realize that the United States has used the U.S. dollar's hegemony to plunder the world's wealth," said the commentator, Shi Jianxun, a professor at Shanghai's Tongji University.
Oh Dear.....
How will the Empire react to the inevitable?
With grace and dignity like the Brits (mainly) did, or like a rich, adolescent brat?

UK recession, an economy built on hubris; I mean tears...
" However, she soon made out that she was in the pool of tears which she had wept when she was nine feet high.‘I wish I hadn’t cried so much!’ said Alice." csl.
Demand destruction has just begun here and globally. The UK has proudly based its economy on dodgy finance and dodgy rich folk.
At last there is a sense that this might be really serious.....Happy 79th Anniversary

Wreckjavik and the Councils
Icelandic Vikings...
Councils in England are renowned for being run by people that couldn't find proper work and busy-body 3rd rate wannabe politicians.
It is emerging that quite a few of these morons invested lots of money in foreign banks paying high interest rates.....
The facts are that anyone who cares about finance has known for a long while now that Iceland is a giant over extended hedge fund which would sooner or later crash..
Anyone sticking millions of pounds into these banks must be.......
Now these losers are begging for their losses to be repaid by every taxpayer.....
The time for ropes and lampposts gets ever closer.

Dreams...
Wow...I dreamt I saw Joe Hill last night!
I dreamed I saw Joe Hill last night,
Alive as you or me
Says I, "But Joe, you're ten years dead,"
"I never died," says he
"I never died," says he
"In Salt Lake, Joe," says I to him,
Him standing by my bed,
"They framed you on a murder charge,"
Says Joe, "But I ain't dead,"
Says Joe, "But I ain't dead."
"The copper bosses killed you, Joe,
They shot you, Joe," says I.
"Takes more than guns to kill a man,"
Says Joe, "I didn't die,"
Says Joe, "I didn't die."
And standing there as big as life
And smiling with his eyes
Joe says, "What they forgot to kill
Went on to organize,
Went on to organize."
"Joe Hill ain't dead," he says to me,
"Joe Hill ain't never died.
Where working men are out on strike
Joe Hill is at their side,
Joe Hill is at their side."
"From San Diego up to Maine,
In every mine and mill,
Where workers strike and organize,"
Says he, "You'll find Joe Hill,"
Says he, "You'll find Joe Hill."
I dreamed I saw Joe Hill last night,
Alive as you or me
Says I, "But Joe, you're ten years dead,"
"I never died," says he
"I never died," says he
tribute poem written about him c. 1930 by Alfred Hayes
The world's changed alot since then, but vengence is in the air.
Joe Hill, an IWW union organizer and poet, was executed in 1915 after being framed on a murder charge....
